Djurgardens (7) vs Orebro (11)

>> Both sides climbing

After a miserable period until late July, with eleven successive games without a single win, Djurgarden are on the move. Last Sunday, they got their fourth successive win counting both league and cup games and are no longer threatened by relegation. With another couple of wins, the side might all of a sudden be involved in the race for next year's UEFA Cup entries.

Goals from Mikael Dahlberg and Andrej Komac, none of them being regular scorers, saw them go 2-0 up in the first half at Halmstad. The home side reduced but Djurgarden managed all three points.

This week, they could take a big step towards a very interesting autumn as they face Norwegian Rosenborg in the second leg in the UEFA Cup qualifying round. Having won 2-1 at home, Djurgarden will make it through with a draw.

Orebro haven't been as successful as Djurgarden. At least not if counting the number of wins lately. But looking at the games they've played, they might deserve being mentioned as the league's strongest side right now. Two weeks ago, they defeated IFK Goteborg 4-2, then managed a 2-2 draw at Kalmar. Last Sunday, they caused another impressive upset as runners-up Elfsborg were defeated 2-0, putting an end to Elfsborg's run of five successive wins.

Goals from summer signings Robin Staaf and Eric Magloire Bassombeng made the day for the previously relegation candidates. And now suspended top-scorer Kim Olsen is back. Despite departure of players such as Patrik Haginge and Kristoffer Nafver, Orebro they have improved notably since summer, a transformation best described with successful summer signings, more than Staaf and Bassombeng.

Orebro used to be hopeless up front, scoring by far the fewest goals of all. But eleven goals in their last four games mean that problem doesn't exist any more.

Orebro have left the relegation battle. They're not yet safe but right now seem destined for the upper half of the league rather than a return to the bottom zone. Their last few scalps must have boasted their self-confidence to a solid level and they are aware of the fact there's no team too good for them. In fact, defeating Djurgarden could see them on the upper half of the league.

The UEFA Cup game against Rosenborg will definitely be in focus, and that could affect Djurgarden in the Orebro encounter. They will also miss suspended defender Lance Davids but have a splendid replacement in Patrik Haginge, until this summer the first choice left defender in Orebro. Orebro seem unstoppable right now. Any side could win, but it feels like Orebro are slightly stronger at the moment. They would be satisfied with a draw, but so would have they been against IFK Goteborg and Elfsborg as well. So I expect an odd goal win for the guests.
