Kalmar (1) vs Sundsvall (14)

>> Sweden's number one out for another comfortable win

Last week Kalmar got closer to their first trophy this season, winning the Swedish Cup semifinal at Hammarby, 1-0 after extra-time. Three days later, they demolished hard fought GAIS 4-1 in Gothenburg. Kalmar went behind early on but a first half equaliser from captain Henrik Rydstrom was followed by an own goal, top-scorer Patrik Ingelsten's 15th goal and substitute Abiola Dauda's third in ten games ¡V all three goals scored within 13 minutes.

With closest rivals Elfsborg losing their 20th round game, Kalmar are now five points clear at the top of the Swedish top division. Elfsborg got a game in hand, but Kalmar look determined not to miss their first ever league title. With 50 goals in 20 games, the league leaders are superior in attack. They've failed to score only twice in 28 games (including various cup games) this season.

Sundsvall are only one goal ahead of the relegation zone and desperately need a win. They lost the crucial away game to fellow bottom side Ljungskile last Sunday. After only ten minutes, they were 0-2 down and that also became the final score. Sundsvall lacked the quality to open up the solid Ljungskile defence, something coach Per Joar Hansen admitted.

Despite having suffered a number of setbacks the last few weeks, this was their first defeat by more than the odd goal since early May. With the other bottom sides on the move, Sundsvall are in serious trouble and an expected defeat at Kalmar could see them second to bottom with nine games to go.

This week Kalmar face Belgian Gent in the second leg of the UEFA Cup second qualifying round, aiming to overcome a 1-2 defeat from their visit to Belgium. That's possible and would see them through to the first round proper. Even though that ought to be the game in focus, they are good enough not to screw up at home to GIF Sundsvall. Expect another comfortable win for Sweden's number one.
