In the 1950s
and '60s when there were mass influxes of Mainland immigrants, over
40% of the population were below 15, putting heavy pressure on the
city's education system. The Jockey Club Modern School was established
in 1960 to provide three-year education programmes aimed at preparing
students for direct entry into employment or for further vocational
training. It was later expanded to provide five-year secondary education
and now offers the full seven-year curriculum. |
