Hosts too strong in clash of young talents

TEAM NEWS

Malmo will be looking forward to recovering from the 4-2 away defeat to Mjallby and to avoid leaders Helsingborg increasing the gap between the two. This is likely to be an entertaining game between two teams full of promising young players.

The home side showed their impressive capacity to launch new talents in the first team in a 1-0 win on extra time over Second Division Syrianska in the Swedish Cup thanks to a goal from 18-year-old striker Dardan Rexhepi. It was an important result in a difficult game to restore the confidence and make the players forget the defeat at Mjallby.

This will be the last league match for Brommapojkarna with their most important player in the season, striker John Guidetti, who will return to Manchester City. He left the game in the 2-1 victory over Hacken with a foot injury but assured he will be on the pitch against Malmo. The Stockholm side will have the return of midfielder Imad Shhadeh but will miss another important player, midfielder Mauricio Albornoz, suspended for a third booking.

MATCH PREVIEW

Malmo manager Roland Nilsson says the first half in the 4-2 defeat to Mjallby was by far the worst from his players in 2010 and does not want to see a repeat against Brommapojkarna. “The lads seemed paralyzed in the 45 minutes. We did not expect such a strong wind against us either but this is no excuse. It was just the worst performance we had this season. We showed a much better display in the second half but it was too late. We cannot make the same mistakes in our defending and cannot panic. It will not happen again,” says Nilsson.

Brommapojkarna young starlet John Guidetti hopes he can score again in what will be his last league game for BP. The striker is behind almost half of the 11 goals scored by the team even though he made his debut only in Brommapojkarna's eight matches in the season. “It is always fantastic to score and I will be looking forward to that. I do not want to discuss my future now, I have had a great time at BP and I want to help them to beat Malmo FF,” says Guidetti.

Midweek in the Swedish Cup, they beat a lower league side Falkenbergs 2-0.

Despite all Brommapojkarna's motivation the team has won only once in six matches as visitors. Malmo have five victories and one draw as hosts and will get the three points here.

HEAD TO HEAD

This is the fifth ever clash between the two and Malmo are unbeaten with two victories in 2007 (2-0 at home and 1-0 away) and two draws in 2009 (both 1-1).
