5.  Trelleborg (16) v GAIS (9)

Bottoms will fail to win one more time

TEAM NEWS

With only one victory in the last seven games the hosts will be desperate to get three points and avoid reaching the World Cup break too far from the other teams on the bottom half of the table. Trelleborg may have to do it without injured experienced midfielder Peter Abelsson, who until the 2-0 away defeat to Orebro had taken part in all matches this season.

GAIS on the other side will be glad to have the return of their star Wanderson do Carmo. The Brazilian attacking midfielder was suspended in the 2-0 home defeat to Elfsborg. This time the suspended player is midfielder Johan Martensson. The team has shown against Elfsborg that they will have problems to find a replacement to injured Ghanaian midfielder Reuben Ayarna.

Trelleborg

GAIS

MATCH PREVIEW

Trelleborg midfielder Kristian Haynes and striker Andreas Drugge wrote in their blog on a local newspaper that the defeat to Orebro left the team with a “lacerated self-esteem”. “We of course hope we are able to recover and beat GAIS. We have to believe in it and work really together to take Trelleborg out of this situation,” wrote the duo.

GAIS midfielder Wanderson do Carmo may be playing his last match for the club and is keen on leaving the fans with sweet memories. “I do not know what is going to happen during the World Cup break and right now I just want to concentrate in the game against Trelleborg. It was really tough to be sidelined against Elfsborg, even more due to an unfair yellow card. Now I feel I am fresh and ready to help GAIS taking one more win,” says Wanderson.

GAIS are used to playing on a pitch with poor conditions like Trelleborg's Vangavallen and the hosts have not been able to take advantage of their home ground. The visitors will not complain if they go back home with a point and this looks like a draw.

HEAD TO HEAD

Trelleborg are unbeaten in the four last meetings with GAIS (three victories and a draw) in 2008 and 2009. GAIS last victory came in July 2007 with a 1-0 at Trelleborg.
