MATCH PREVIEW

Tranmere did themselves an enormous favour by beating high flying Millwall last weekend. If they had not taken all three points, they would have been as good as relegated because of their vastly inferior goal difference.

So having produced such a magnificent win, manager Les Parry will tell them that they must not throw it away now. Their fate is not in their own hands because if Exeter win and Gillingham get a point, they will still be playing in Division Two next season. But what a great game to finish the season – away to the team who were the first club relegated and who have won only two of their 22 home games.

Stockport have also lost their last six matches, scoring just three goals in the process and their last home game saw them humiliated 6-0 by playoff side Huddersfield. After that, it could be Tranmere fans making most of the noise, having bought up their whole allocation of tickets.

County will want to give their own fans something to cheer on the final day. But with so much at stake for Tranmere and Stockport missing key players, this looks like an away win.

HEAD TO HEAD

Four of the last five league games at Stockport have finished in draws, the home side winning none of them.

Stockport last beat Tranmere at home in 1999/2000, a 2-1 win in the Championship.
