MATCH PREVIEW

There's much frustration at Independiente. They were three minutes away from getting a last shot at the title, but Argentinos Juniors turned the game around. Lanus haven't lost in nine matches and have a chance to clinch a South American Cup berth.

You can sense the frustration at Independiente. They've lost four of their last six games, and the last one was unbelievable. Manager Americo Ruben Gallego has been the target of all criticism. It got to the point where he was in doubt for next season, something unthinkable a few weeks ago. "We lost the title and it was a collective failure; I'm 80% responsible", said the manager, who confirmed he'll stay at the club for next season. They'll be playing just for the honor against Lanus with a very weakened lineup due to all the injuries.

There's a lot on the line for Lanus. They need a win and a Velez Sarsfield draw. In case of a Velez Sarsfield win, it all comes down to goals scored and conceded. The team managed by Luis Zubeldia has good reasons to be hopeful. Attacking midfielder Sebastian Blanco is in great form and has been named to the World Cup provisional squad. His playmaking skills and the good form of Paraguayan striker Santiago Salcedo have been very important for Lanus.

Independiente need a good result for their supporters, but Lanus are on a roll. This could be a draw.

HEAD TO HEAD

They've played 110 games, with 26 wins for Lanus, 50 for Independiente and 34 draws.

Lanus are undefeated in their last four matches (3 straight wins and a 0-0 draw last December).
