Racing Introduction
25/1 First leg of 4-Year-Old Series - Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile
The Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile was originally a Group 3 race and was the traditional lead-up race for the Hong Kong Derby. This race was upgraded to domestic Group 1 status in the 1999/2000 season, and is now the first of the three major races for the Hong Kong classic generation. The 2012 edition of the race, the HK$6 million Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile, will be run at Sha Tin on 25 January, 2012.
Last year, Lucky Nine, trained by Caspar Fownes and ridden by Brett Prebble, turned in an awe-inspiring performance in the Mercedes-Benz Hong Kong Classic Mile. This was also his first Hong Kong Group 1 race championship.
